Inspectlet Company Info
Inspectlet was founded in 2011 and since then more than 40,000 websites use Inspectlet to record website user sessions.
While Inspectlet is lagging behind its competitor Mouseflow, which has helped about 20,000 more clients to date, Mouseflow had a two-year head start with its inception in 2009.
The three main features of the session replay tool of Inspectlet are:
- Detailed heatmap analysis
- Highly affordable
- Ease of integration with HTTPS, AJAX, and more
Ideal For Almost Any Website / Who Can Benefit From Inspectlet?
This software is beneficial for anyone who wants to understand the behavior of their target audience better, across a range of devices and OS platforms. Use Inspectlet to determine and contract user experiences across between different operating systems and via mobile devices or desktop computers.
E-commerce and performance websites, as well as news, media, and social site owners, all stand to benefit from Inspectlet. For website owners, developers, marketers, and UX/UI experts, Inspectlet offers features to make your tasks simpler and also give you accurate data you might otherwise not achieve. While you can use Google Analytics to see what is happening on your site or app, adding Inspectlet to your software lineup helps you determine why it is happening.
For each visitor to your site, you can see on your dashboard IP address, session length, starting page, referrer, and last activity. See recorded website mouse tracking and detailed heatmap analysis of clicks, scrolls, and more. Many devices are supported, including Windows, web-based, Mac, Linux, Windows Phone, and mobile web app.
Inspectlet Review: How Effective is it?
Inspectlet is meant to help organizations better understand the intentions of people visiting their website or web app and improve on it given the detailed insights. In conducting this Inspectlet review, our goal was to determine how well this session replay tool meets its objectives. Here are our findings:
Review of Inspectlet Features
Inspectlet offers heatmaps tools, website recorder, and playback function, as well as profound funnel and form analyses. For example, the conversion funnels for pages of your choice enable you to track where potential conversions drop off and drive up conversion rates.
Pros
We like that you can seamlessly use Inspectlet with HTTPS, AJAX, and single-page apps as a developer, making your project simpler. There are no complex tweaks necessary to use this feature as it is available straight out of the box. The session replay tool is compatible with AngularJS, Ember, React, Backbone, and more. Integrate it with HTTPS, SSL, AJAX, dynamic DOM manipulation, and cookies, as well as login and authentication technologies.
You can see view videos of visitors to your website or client’s site (or app) through the Inspectlet dashboard, including mouse tracking of movement, click, scroll, and keypress activity. Through screen capture and heatmaps tools, you can see at a glance what works on the website or web app at a glance, such as what a user clicked and expected to be a link. Then you can make adjustments based on the real user activity. Inspectlet offers heatmap analysis of scrolls and clicks, as well as tracking users’ eye movement.
The dashboard is secured via your login password, so you have the privacy you want as a developer, marketer, or business owner. View and download session recordings as you want to share with your team and generate heatmaps tools for responsive pages to give you more data. You can see an example of the dashboard for yourself on the Inspectlet homepage.
Cons
However, we find that Inspectlet’s services are more limited than some competitors. For example, Inspectlet does not offer real-time chat, surveys, or polls, unlike Lucky Orange. Inspectlet offerings are similar to Mouseflow. But, Inspectlet is cheaper than many other session replay tools on the market, which puts it back in the running as a viable option.

Inspectlet Review – Pricing
In doing our research for this Inspectlet review, we note that the pricing is highly affordable for what you get, giving you excellent value. The conversion funnel analytics that you get with the Startup plan and higher plans is a feature that marketers, business owners, and developers will appreciate as you can see the entire conversion path from the beginning and where your conversions are being lost.
If you want form analytics, you will want to invest the $149 per month in the Growth plan. With this feature, you can track several metrics on your online forms, seeing how they perform and user interactions with each input box on the form, such as hesitation, through a mouse tracker.
While it is nice to know that there is a free plan, the majority of clients will want to upgrade to at least the Micro plan to get a substantial number of recorded sessions per month. Otherwise, you will easily get frustrated by the limit of 100 recorded sessions per month of the free plan.
List of Inspectlet Plans and Pricing
There are six plans available in total, offering you a smorgasbord of choices to meet your business size and needs. The plan offerings are similar to Mouseflow and are easier to understand on the Inspectlet website than with competitor Visitpath.
All Inspectlet plans include basic features of playback session recordings, heatmaps analysis suite, compatibility with dynamic sites, mobile device support, email support, and HTTPS/AJAX support. The Inspectlet plans and pricing are:
Free plan: $0/month, 100 recorded sessions/month, 1 website, 1 month of storage, and basic features (see above)
Micro plan: $39/month, 5,000 recorded sessions/month, 1 website, 2 months of storage, and basic features
Startup plan: $79/month, 25,000 recorded sessions/month, 3 websites, 3 months of storage, basic features, and extras (download session recordings, manage multiple account users, conversion funnel analytics, and email support)
Growth plan: $149/month, 50,000 recorded sessions/month, 10 websites, 6 months of storage, basic features, all Startup plan features, plus extras (targeting controls, API access, and in-depth form analysis)
Accelerate plan: $299/month, 125,000 recorded sessions/month, 20 websites, 12 months of storage, basic features, Growth plan features, and phone support
Enterprise plan: Price determined by contacting Inspectlet/month, infinite recorded sessions/month, infinite websites, infinite months of storage, and all features in every other plan
About Inspectlet Customer Support
In looking over the Inspectlet plans, though, which you can peruse above, we noted that customer support is lacking for plan members. Phone support is not an included feature until the Accelerate plan, which is the second-highest option.
While email support is a basic feature of each plan, we think that from Micro onward there should be included phone support for the paying customer. In our opinion, phone support is a basic element of good customer service.
For nonsubscribers, you do have access to Inspectlet via email too or via Twitter. However, we see that they do not update their Twitter feed daily, unlike bigger companies. Also, we think that plan members should have more contact options than nonsubscribers who are not spending their valuable money on the session replay product. Competing companies Lucky Orange and Mouseflow both offer phone support to their existing and potential clients.
Are There Special Features?
In conducting our Inspectlet review, we realized that the Javascript tagging API of this session replay tool set it apart from the competition. You can submit any metadata you want to link to a user or a session so that you can conduct additional filtering of them. For example, you can tag a certain email address and then bring up the results in your dashboard of all site visits from that particular website.
This tagging feature also enables you to mark interesting occurrences. For example, you can mark all sessions where the visitor pressed the play button. We like the simple design of Inspectlet’s Javascript tagging API that produces powerful analytic results that marketers will appreciate, time and again.
We also appreciate that Inspectlet offers blog posts with valuable information about how to best use its features. Not all session replay companies offer this feature; Lucky Orange, for example, does not do so.
Inspectlet Review Conclusion
Overall, Inspectlet is easy to use and provides in-depth information on what your audience is doing on your site or app, using a quality mouse tracker, heatmaps tools and more. While its customer support leaves much to be desired in comparison to the competition, and surveys and polls are not included features, Inspectlet does provide great value for the money. It is less expensive than many other session replay offerings, yet still helps you understand your customer better with real-time analysis to boost conversion rates and enjoy additional benefits.
